I can wear an 8 or 8.5, so I'd pick an 8.5. The black leather is a more flexible material, but the chestnut has a harder toe so you definitely need a larger size. They hit a little below mid-calf but above the ankle, so they might not be as tall as you hope for but are still really cute.
